It is possible to reach Switzerland, to the north of Stresa, passing through Pallanza, where you can find Villa Taranto with ist famous park. There is also the sunny village of Cannero Riviera with its castle, and finally Cannobio with its beautiful lido.
In front of Stresa lies the hermitage of Santa Caterina, built in the XIII century. The panorama here is unique and it inspires to the contemplation of the treasure of the lake. While staying in Stresa it is possible to take part to excursions to Milan, the Lake Orta and to Switzerland.
Arona lies south of Stresa, good point for shopping and for romantic walks along the lake. Here you can find one of the tallest statue of Europe, the San Carlone. In front of Arona you can admire the Rocca of Angera, medieval castle that today houses the Doll and Toys Museum.
These wonderful locations can be reached also by ferry on the Lake Maggiore.
